M.J. Orellano, L.M.T./P.T. completed her physical therapy
degree in December 1983 from the University of Central Arkansas. She received
her physical therapy license in 1984 and has been practicing physical therapy in
the state of Arkansas since that time. M.J. received her massage therapy license
in 1996 to further enhance the scope of her practice allowing more direct access
to the public. She is also a level two Certified Breathworker through
Transformation, Inc. of Milwaukee, WI.
Since in practice, M.J. has enhanced her clinical skills through continuing
education, primarily in the areas of manual therapy and women's health,
accumulating over 700 hours of continuing education in the past 20 years. She
has also taught and assisted in teaching courses in Myofascial Release both
locally and nationally. Along with her business partner, Sue Carver, ATC/M.P.T.,
M.J. co-authored and taught "How to Progress Your Injured Client for Successful
Exercise Experience," a course designed for fitness trainers. Her Clinical
interests include rehabilitation of orthopedic injuries, pre and postpartum back
pain and rehabilitation of chronic pain, especially Myofascial in origin
Prior to co-owning A World of Difference Therapy Services, est. 1998, M.J.
worked in Orthopedic Outpatient Private Practices both a an employee and
business owner. She previously owned Pleasant Valley Physical Therapy, Inc.
M.J. strives to deliver the best level of care possible to the whole patient
rather than a diagnosis. By following the mission statement of A World of
Difference Therapy Services, patients are empowered through education and
exercise as function is restored and pain decreases.
M.J. is a Catholic and a parishioner at Christ the King Catholic Church. She
has one son. Her Hobbies include exercise, cooking, reading and being with
family and friends. She is a member of the Arkansas Woman Executives; The
American Physical Therapy Association; The Private Practice Section; The Section
of Women's Health, and the Arkansas Chapter of the American Physical Therapy
Association.
Sue Carver, ATC/MPT/CMT received her ATC (certified Athletic
Trainer) in 1978 from the National Athletic Trainer's Association; served as the
Women's Athletic Trainer at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville from
1978-1982; Volunteer Athletic Trainer at the US Olympic Training Center in
Colorado Springs, 1984 (judo and fencing);Selected to work the National Sports
Festival VI, in Baton Rouge, (men's volleyball) 1985; Selected to work the US
Olympic Track and Field Trials in Indianapolis, 1988; Volunteer trainer for
Track and Field at the Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta, 1996.
Sue received her MPT/Masters degree in Physical Therapy from Emory
University, 1987. Her employment history following graduation includes staff
physical therapist at Ft. Sanders Center for Sports Medicine, Knoxville,
Tennessee (1988-89);Director of Little Rock, Sports Therapy, Little Rock, AR
(1989-1993); Physical Therapy Clinics Company initially as staff therapist and
then as Director of the Pleasant Valley Clinic- out patient orthopedic and
chronic pain management (1993-1998);Owner and President of a private out-patient
physical therapy clinic specializing in orthopedics and chronic pain management,
D.B.A./A World of Difference Therapy Services.
Sue received her CMT/Certified Manual Therapy from the Institute of Graduate
Health Sciences in 1991 (post graduate work in theory of soft tissue and joint
injuries as well as manual skills in Myofascial release, deep tissue techniques,
basic, intermediate and advanced spinal and extremity manipulation techniques.)
Sue is the contributing author "Health Fitness Instructor's Handbook." Edited
by Howley, Ed. T., PhD and Franks, Don B.,PhD, Human Kinetics Publishers, Inc.,
Champaign, Illinois, 1986, 2nd edition, 1992; 3rd edition 1997; 4th edition
2002; and 5th edition 2005.
Sue has been a speaker at the Great Lakes Athletic Trainers Association
District Meeting in 1992 on Dynamic Back Stabilization for Athletes in
Indianapolis; National Athletic Trainer's Association in 1997 on Assessment and
Treatment of Postural Alignment in Relation to Sports Injuries in Salt Lake
City, Utah and also the Great Lakes Athletic Trainers Association District
Meeting in 1999 on An Introduction to Manual Therapy Techniques in Indianapolis.
